What is Drug Detox
Drug Detoxification is the process of removing harmful substances, such as drugs or alcohol, from the body. The specifics of what a patient can expect from their drug detox treatment varies, depends on a variety of factors. These include the substance(s) they are detoxing from, the severity of their addiction, and the detox setting. It is our goal at Plum Creek Recovery Ranch to provide a safe place for people who struggle with substance abuse to recover. So they can experience freedom from their addictions and explore new ways to lead a healthier and more fulfilling life.
Plum Creek Recovery Ranch treats the issues that surround addiction to alcohol and other drugs and addresses any underlying mental health issues. Our treatment ranch is located on 200 acres of active ranch land on the former Dollie Cole estate. The tranquil and rustic location is the perfect environment to begin to heal the underlying issues that fuel addiction. Detoxing at Plum Creek Recovery Ranch is the first step in our comprehensive addiction treatment program.
How does Drug Detox work at Plum Creek
We offer medical drug detox onsite at the same location as our residential treatment facility. This means you will not have to worry about transferring between facilities. And you can begin participating in therapy and counseling as soon as you are ready, even if you are still in detox. Our pristine ranchland offers residents unique experiences as well as a variety of therapies and activities so each resident can find their own path to healing. These experiences include individual and group therapy, wellness and nutrition educational groups, and yoga.
We begin our admissions process with a brief assessment to learn more about you and how we can help you succeed. We can also perform an insurance benefit check for you then. Both of these services are free of charge to you and do not obligate you to anything. If you choose to move forward with us, we will seek approval from our clinical team. Once you are packed and ready for your stay with us, we offer discrete transportation from all major airports, train stations, and Greyhound bus terminals in our area. Friends and family are also encouraged to drop patients off directly, if appropriate.
You deserve a safe and comfortable medical drug detox with 24-hour supervision. Plum Creek Recovery Ranch features a medical detox on site so that you can begin your treatment and recovery journey with us from day one. A medical drug detox consists of inpatient treatment with 24-hour medical supervision. As the body adjusts to the absence of the substance, withdrawal symptoms may occur. During this period, your comfort and safety will be managed by clinical staff. These symptoms can range from mild to severe and may include nausea, vomiting, sweating, anxiety, depression, insomnia, and in some cases, more severe symptoms such as seizures or hallucinations.
We administer a variety of medications to alleviate withdrawal symptoms and keep our patients comfortable. This time is about stabilizing your condition and getting much deserved rest. Medical detox can also protect you from serious withdrawal side effects like seizures, delirium, and cardiac and respiratory dysfunction. A standard medical detox typically lasts between 4 and 7 days. This depends on the substance itself and the amount and length of time you were using. Age and physical health can be factors as well. Certain medications, such as benzodiazepines like Xanax, Klonopin, and Methadone, can require a more extensive medical detox period.
Keeping yourself safe
It is important to note that detox can be physically and emotionally challenging. And it is only safe when conducted within a structured drug detox program, under the guidance of trained healthcare professionals. Attempting to detox from certain substances, especially alcohol and opioids, without medical supervision can be dangerous and even life-threatening.
Seeking professional help and support is crucial for a safe and effective detox process and the start of a long-term recovery journey. It is also important to note that detox alone is not sufficient for long-term recovery. Patients are encouraged to continue their treatment journey by transitioning to inpatient residential treatment. Inpatient residential treatment is one of the best ways to lock in the gains of a completed drug detox treatment.
