Everything’s bigger in Texas. Folks usually don’t mean the heights of the recovery from substance abuse with inpatient residential treatment, but we aim to change that narrative. We believe in the power of open land, bright sun, and a clean world where the brightness of the morning horizon speaks to the possibilities of each new day.
According to a 2020 Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration report, an estimated 11.3 million Texans are living with substance abuse disorders. Solving this rolling tragedy is our mission at Plum Creek Recovery Ranch. It’s why our doors open, and it’s why we keep them this way.
40 years ago this year, this ranch was born as “The Briarpatch Ranch”, the brainchild of businesswoman and philanthropist Dollie Cole. Today, we try to honor Cole’s commitment to service with our care for each and every troubled person that we admit.
While our doors are certainly not closed to anyone who lives outside of our state lines, we try to imbibe the unique essence of the Lonestar state to give your recovery journey a spirit that cannot be replicated. Every recovery journey is unique, but here’s a rough overview of how your recovery journey will look during the duration of your inpatient residential treatment here at Plum Creek Recovery Ranch.
First Steps
Getting help: They say the journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. Recovery from substance abuse is the journey of a lifetime, but it always begins with this step. It can be hard to admit that you need help, but it’s easy to get. All you have to do is call us at 512-764-0843, or you can contact us here. We’ll take care of the rest. And then we’ll take care of you.
Treatment
Assessment and Admission: At Plum Creek Recovery Ranch, we do not believe in one size fits all treatment. We want to make a treatment plan that works for you and you alone. That begins with an assessment by a healthcare professional or addiction specialist to determine the level and kind of care needed. They will evaluate the severity of your addiction and any co-occurring mental health disorders. Based on the assessment, they will recommend an appropriate residential treatment program.
Detoxification: If you are physically dependent on substances, you may need to undergo detoxification (detox) to safely manage withdrawal symptoms. Our trained staff will be with you every step of the way to provide all the therapies that you need to minimize the stress on your body and mind. It can be scary, but you’ll get through and we’ll be here every step of the way.
Residential Treatment: Once detox is complete, you’ll enter our residential treatment program. Our staff will make their recommendation based on your particular needs and circumstances. These programs typically last from 28 to 90 days or longer, depending on your needs and your progress. During this time, you will reside at the treatment facility and receive intensive therapy so that you can start to build your new life in recovery.
Therapy and Counseling: Evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), individual counseling, group therapy, and family therapy are commonly used to address the psychological aspects of addiction. Therapy helps individuals understand the root causes of their substance abuse and develop coping strategies.
Medical and Psychiatric Care: If you have co-occurring mental health disorders like depression or anxiety, integrated treatment is essential. To improve recovery outcomes, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) may be utilized to manage cravings and reduce withdrawal symptoms if applicable.
Education and Skill Building: Our residential program includes educational sessions about addiction, relapse prevention, and life skills training. Learning about substance abuse and acquiring tools for sober living is crucial for long-term recovery. We want to help you build the lifelong skills that you’ll need to stay safe in your recovery.
Fitness programs: We believe in healing both the body and mind. A treatment plan combined with an exercise regime can improve your overall health in almost unimaginable ways. Recovery from substance abuse demands a holistic approach; healing the mind and body together to make a new and better you.
Peer Support: Sharing experiences and learning from others in a supportive, drug-free environment is a significant aspect of residential treatment. We believe that forming an intentional, sober community is one of the most effective ways to stay grounded in recovery. To that end, we encourage all of our residential patients to open themselves up to Group therapy and 12-step meetings with other people in recovery from substance abuse.
Aftercare Planning: Preparing for life after residential treatment is essential. Most programs in Texas will help you create a personalized aftercare plan that may include outpatient therapy, support groups, or transitional housing.
Throughout the process, you’ll always be free to enjoy the benefits of recovering on 200 open acres of central Texas land. Take advantage of the sun and clear blue sky. It still takes our breath away.
